Sew Good

Sew Good is an initiative that I started to sew quilts for those in need. I have assistance from other women and we meet and have sewing days together.

Our current project is to sew children size quilts for the hill tribe kids in orphanages who live in Northern Thailand. A friend, Lorel who is the President of Borderless Friendship WA, does an awesome job supporting more than 450 ‘at risk’ children, where 1/3 of these are orphans. The hill tribe people have little or no access to education and the children are vulnerable to poverty and exploitation within Thailand’s ubiquitous sex and drug trades. For further information about this worthy non-profit organisation go to http:/www.borderlessfriendship.org/

Our target is for 35 quilts to go to one orphanage. The quilts are child size – recommended size is 40” x 50” and we are making each quilt unique so the children will take ownership of their own quilt and look after it. The quilts will be wadded with Nu Wool for extra warmth and we are in the process of fundraising for materials, wadding and postage (probably quilt raffles!).

Progress of the quilts will be displayed on this blog.
